So, I shot this show at the High Dive in Fremont, the Nick Boone Band...excellent show by the way! The pictures came out super grainy because I shot them with Portra 800, which still wasn't quite fast enough with the low light, but I got a few that I'm pleased with. I also decided that converting to B&W was the way to go with the grain. And I still have a couple of rolls of B&W to pick up from the lab, so I'm expecting a couple more.

So, it's been a while, a long while, since I've posted anything, so I thought I would go ahead and share some recent work. I've been doing almost all of my shooting with my Hasselblad 500c/m. In the past I've only shot black and white, but I am now experimenting with different color films to find the one that suits my style. The B&W's were all shot with Ilford Delta 400 and all of the color images here were shot with Portra 400nc, and I've been very pleased with the Portra results so far. The image with the silhouetted skateboarder was shot in color, but I'm not sure if I like it in color of B&W better, so I'll show both of them. I have a mountain of film from my recent trip to Alaska to develop still and I will post those when I get around to developing them.

I decided to procrastinate a bit and wait until the night before class to do my assignment, and the consequences of that are...night shots. It ended up working out though, I can't say that I'm too dissappointed with the outcome. Maybe next time I'll wait until the morning of and see what I can come up with.

So, I started photography school this past week. While most of the week was spent listening to professors instruct us on how to turn our cameras on and press the shutter release, the rest of it was quite good. It's so much easier to motivate yourself to to assignments when it's something that you're in to...screw you algebra. Assignment one for my image manipulation class was to take a self portrait. Its kind of simple and I had some more creative ideas but I lacked the resources to carry them out. Finally my blog, which has been pretty thin due to my lack of interest, now has a photo of myself...and I plan on sharing quite a bit more in the future.
